Richmond Fantasy Photo Locations

A list of my top 5 places for fantastical photos.

#1 MAYMONT PARK

Maymont is by far my favorite place to get photos. The park is huge and there’s so much diversity in the locations. Some of my favorite spots are the:

Italian Garden

• has a very romantic feel with its long colonnade, flower garden, stone walls and steps

Gazebos

• there’s a few different types scattered near the Italian gardens and the mansion

Trees

• there’s plenty of varying trees all throughout the park that make great backdrops

Mansion (outdoor only)

•  beautiful architecture

#2 PUMP HOUSE PARK

Pump House park has a pretty stone building that is great for a castle look. The park is also great for a greenery backdrop as there is a little trail you can follow that goes near the river.

#3 PONY PASTURE PARK

This park runs right along the river and has a few different places you can get up close to the water. It has a gravel path that’s an easy walk and has plenty of greenery to get some woodsy forest photos like this one!

#4 BELLE ISLE

This is great for river shots but there’s also stone and brick ruins where you can get some cool photos. There’s a few different trails that loop too. Just be prepared for a LOT of walking as you have to walk at least 30 min to get to any good spots.

#5 CARILLON TOWER

The staircase here does a gorgeous double curve on either side of the monument. At the top of the steps is a beautiful patio area that feels like it should be on a mansion. Right next door near the parking lot, is a stone amphitheater that makes for some interesting photos as well.

HONORABLE MENTION: BRYAN PARK

There’s a couple of different looks at this location as well. Here I focused more on flowering trees and grassy foliage. Below you can see how vast the differences between two spots at this location can be,
